How is the chair doing

The Chair, the first of the chair people has been an exploration in expressing symbolic forms in simple structural components. The vocabulary of component parts that were discovered in this exercise can translate into a library of meaningful forms. The hand, the foot, the twist of the tourso,the gesture of the tilted head were revelations at each cross road. Each part of this chair has a story wrapped around it about a specific craftsperson or being sent to Russia to measure a furniture show room. MY last milestone involved having all the component pieces transfered to an ACAD file and a first phase trial cut out of the components parts. Eventaully the chair will be a be produced as a short run of production pc.s. displayed among a dozen other gallery outdoor pc.s. I expect that this vocabulary will translate well into green LEED decking materials.
