CFSC Financial Services

I have designed more than 50 financial services storefronts for various companies, including check-cashing locations, with several currently under construction. My work in this sector began with David’s Check Cashing, which later introduced me to CFSC. These projects are primarily located throughout the New York City metropolitan area, with additional locations in New Jersey and Rockland County.

Each financial services location presents its own set of challenges, including ADA accessibility requirements, New York City code compliance, limited interior footprints, permit expediting, violation resolution, and close coordination with contractors, engineers, consultants, and building owners. Additional scope often includes new storefront systems, signage, brand and image-enhancement programs, mechanical and HVAC upgrades, structural engineering, repairs to existing buildings, and overall project coordination from concept through completion.

Features of the Office

Weekly visits from regional store managers required a dedicated communal workstation area designed to acknowledge their central role within the company while providing comfort for full-day use. This area was conceived as both functional and symbolic. Sculptural ceiling panels with integrated lighting define the shared workstations, with star motifs incorporated overhead—an intentional gesture recognizing the managers as key contributors to the organization.

Corporate Theme

The company’s red and black brand colors were thoughtfully integrated into the reception area, furnishings, and interior finishes. At the main entrance, the logo wall introduces a subtle color transition: a black background behind the signature red lettering gradually shifts to lighter gray panels, eventually giving way to white surfaces in the adjacent company photo booth area. This tonal progression continues into the main office spaces, where light almond hues create a warm and professional working environment.

Impact on Employees

The completed office is widely regarded as an uplifting and inspiring place to work. The original space offered a valuable asset—a continuous band of perimeter windows—which became a defining feature of the design. Glass walls were introduced for all perimeter offices, allowing natural light to circulate throughout the entire 8,000-square-foot floor plate. Sunlight animates the interior, highlighting the sculptural qualities of the space through a dynamic interplay of straight and curved forms. Each visit to the office reinforces the success of the design and remains a rewarding experience.
