New Home Project
New home for a large family, currently under construction. This is the second residence designed for a husband-and-wife construction team with a deep appreciation for thoughtful design. While they build homes and additions professionally every day, for themselves they sought a residence that would be a unique and meaningful expression of their family’s shared values and commitment to one another.
A Commitment to Family
They envisioned a home that would inspire both themselves and their five children, serving as a tribute to their family’s ancestors—many of whom worked in the construction trades. Beyond the immediate needs of daily life, the home was also conceived as a lasting legacy: a place for future generations to gather, celebrate, and remain connected through family traditions, both large and small.

The house was strategically sited to be revealed from the end of the driveway, a decision reached after exploring at least six alternative configurations. The site engineer, Donald Smith, P.E., was an exceptional collaborator who patiently accommodated the many design iterations required throughout the process. As the design evolved, the improvements became clear to both the clients and the team. Once the final building location was established, the entire floor plan was reversed—a move that ultimately proved to be the ideal solution for the overall design.
